How IB Summer Camp works, and a printable weekly checklist.
📋 The idea
IB Summer Camp gives your child (and her friends) a structured but playful summer: roughly 3–4 hours a day across five blocks. The trail walks through the IB curriculum in order — Math & English revisit the whole Grade-4 syllabus on IXL with printable worksheets, while Discovery Lab and Create & Explore progress through each IB Unit of Inquiry's lessons (a specific video + a hands-on project + a worksheet). Each child logs in with a name and PIN; progress, streaks, and badges sync across devices.
✅ Getting started
- Open Camp Base. Each child taps New camper and picks a name + 4-digit PIN.
- On another device, they tap their badge and enter the PIN — progress follows them.
- Each morning, open Today's Trail and work through the 5 blocks.
- Math & English blocks open IXL (your subscription) and a printable worksheet.
- Check off each block. Finishing all five completes the day and keeps the streak going.
At the end of a finished day your child writes one line about what she learned or made. Read these together in the 📔 Camp Journal on her Trophy Tent page — it's a simple window into what's sticking. A missed day is fine: one rest day no longer breaks her streak.
⏱️ Screen-time balance
Two of the five blocks (Create & Explore, most Free Choice options) are screen-free by design. Discovery Lab pairs one short video with a hands-on experiment. A reasonable rhythm: screen blocks in the morning when focus is high, hands-on and outdoor play later. Encourage real breaks between blocks.
🤖 AI Maker Lab & Showcase
One block each day is the AI Maker Lab: your child builds a real thing with AI (a story, a trained image-spotter, a quiz game) and also investigates how the AI works. Finished projects are sent to the Camp Showcase. Submissions wait for your approval before they appear publicly — use the Showcase approvals panel here with the grown-up key. Tools are open: any AI helper works, with a grown-up nearby.
🔒 Privacy
Logins use only a first name, a 4-digit PIN, and a chosen secret spark emoji — no email, no personal details. PINs and sparks are stored hashed (never in plain text) on the camp's own small server, and the whole site sits behind a shared password. Progress is just checkmarks, points, and badges.
