πŸ”Ž What you'll discover about AI

Speech-to-text listens to the sounds you make and matches them to words it knows. It can mishear, just like we sometimes mishear each other.

πŸ›  AI helpers you could use

  • A speech-to-text tool (with a grown-up) β€” the dictation button on a phone or computer works well
  • An AI picture maker, or your own drawings
  • Or use your favourite AI helper

Tip: you can always use your favourite AI helper instead β€” just keep a grown-up nearby.

πŸͺœ How to build it

Day 1

  1. Think of a short, exciting story you can tell in a few sentences.
  2. Use a speech-to-text tool to speak your story and watch it turn into writing.
  3. Read the words back. Fix any that the computer misheard.

Day 2

  1. Split your story into three or four comic panels.
  2. Draw or make a picture for each panel and add speech bubbles.
  3. Put the panels in order to finish your comic.

πŸ§ͺ Researcher's question

Say a tricky word or a made-up name into the speech-to-text tool. Did it get it right? What kinds of words did it have the most trouble hearing?
