πŸ€– Helper Bot

Build a tiny chatbot that answers kind, friendly questions. You decide what it knows and what it says back.

πŸ”Ž What you'll discover about AI

A simple chatbot matches what someone types to answers you gave it. If the words do not match anything it knows, it gets stuck. You teach it what to understand.

πŸ›  AI helpers you could use

  • Machine Learning for Kids β€” ask a grown-up to set up an account with you
  • Scratch β€” works together with Machine Learning for Kids
  • Or use your favourite chatbot-building tool

Tip: you can always use your favourite AI helper instead β€” just keep a grown-up nearby.

πŸͺœ How to build it

Day 1

  1. Decide what your bot helps with, like cheering people up or telling jokes.
  2. Make a list of kind questions people might ask it.

Day 2

  1. Set up your project and teach it some example questions (the training).
  2. Write a friendly answer for each kind of question.

Day 3

  1. Test it by typing questions in different ways and see if it understands.
  2. Add more example questions where it got confused, then test again.

πŸ§ͺ Researcher's question

Ask your bot something you never taught it. What does it say? How many different ways can you ask the same question before it stops understanding?
