🐠 AI for Oceans

Train a computer to keep the ocean clean by teaching it what is a fish and what is rubbish. Watch how your choices change what it learns.

πŸ”Ž What you'll discover about AI

You feed the AI examples by labelling them. If you teach it that the wrong things are fish, it learns the wrong lesson. Good examples make a good AI.

πŸ›  AI helpers you could use

  • AI for Oceans (Code.org) β€” ask a grown-up to open this with you
  • Or use your favourite "label and train" AI activity

Tip: you can always use your favourite AI helper instead β€” just keep a grown-up nearby.

πŸͺœ How to build it

Day 1

  1. Open AI for Oceans and start the first level.
  2. Label things as "fish" or "not fish" by clicking them as they swim past.
  3. Watch the AI try to sort the ocean by itself using what you taught it.
  4. Carry on to the levels where you train it on other things, like "blue" or "round".
  5. Write down what changed about the AI after you gave it more examples.

πŸ§ͺ Researcher's question

What happens if you label things carelessly, calling rubbish a fish a few times? How does that mess up what the AI learns?
